| Abstract |
When ex-Marine Tommy Riordan (Tom Hardy) returns home to the Steel City, his recovering alcoholic father, Paddy Conlon (Nick Nolte), trains him to win a big purse in an MMA tournament. Tommy’s brother, Brendan (Joel Edgerton), is a Pittsburgh Public Schools physics teacher struggling to make ends meet and returns to the amateur ring, as an underdog, to upset his brother Tommy.
