Caroline, a married, maternal, middle-aged woman, loses her job with the City of Pittsburgh and turns her time and attention to her Shadyside neighbors. Sharon Dilworth (1958— ) was born in Detroit and earned her MFA at the University of Michigan. She is an author and teaches creative writing at Carnegie Mellon University.
