One man decides he can't afford the new freezer he bought and sends it back; the seller of the freezer cancels the new car he had ordered; the car dealer cancels the house he was to have built; and so forth. The economic downswing becomes a full-blown depression until the government gives money to the first man to start buying and the cycle is reversed.
