1935 Sinclair, Upton [Beall] (1878-1968). Depression Island. Pasadena, CA: Author. The book originated as a few pages in his The Way Out: What Lies Ahead for America (New York: Farrar & Rinehart, 1933), 25-31. Sinclair then developed it into a screenplay (no film was made), which was performed as a play at a fund-raising event during his campaign for Governor of California. The book is the script. NN, PSt
