Emphasis is on conspiracy and revolt, but an authoritarian constitution is provided. Landis, a medical doctor, was tried for publishing and selling Secrets of Generation, described by the District Attorney as so obscene that it could not be entered into the trial record but attested to as not in any way obscene by various doctors. Landis was found guilty and sentenced to a year in prison and fined $500. The transcript of the trial was published as A Full Account of the Trial of S.M.
