The first of two volumes with the first volume set in an underwater, religious dystopia where the people are taught that the limited space in which they live is all there is. The young, female protagonist, a beekeeper, discovers otherwise. Followed by Rogue. Sydney, NSW, Australia: Pan Macmillan, 2019, in which the protagonist escapes to the surface, is discovered by people on a small island, and struggles both to learn about the world she now lives in, be accepted in it, and get a message back to her friends.
