The South African female author (1876-1964) was born in Germany and migrated to South Africa in the 1890s where she served as a spy for South Africa during the Boer War. She published books about the British concentration camps and about her exploits as a spy. Later she published The Grape Cure (1927) for cancer, which is still in print.
