Annotation | A complex novel that includes both a dystopia and a eutopia. The dystopia is in the center of the Earth and is inhabited by the descendants of Jews condemned by God to be swallowed by the Earth. The protagonists from the surface escape the dystopia, and, while the Earth is destroyed, they escape in a "airship", which takes them directly to a eutopian Jupiter. Jupiter had a separate Adam and Eve, but without the Fall and has developed a good society that, while hierarchical, is based on pro rata sharing. |
