One Red infiltrates the society on the surface, which has characteristics of ancient Rome. Sequels include Golden Son. New York: Del Rey, 2015, which follows the main character through an attempt to change the system, which is initially defeated, then appears to win, but the novel ends with the system in chaos; Morning Star. New York: Del Rey, 2015 continues in the same vein but again with apparent victory; Iron Gold. New York: Del Rey, 2018, in which the continuing protagonist is leaser of the Republic that has replaced the dystopia, but it is still at war with some of the members of the old system; and Dark Age. New York: Del Rey, 2019, in which the protagonist has been overthrown and the conflicts continue. Red Rising: Sons of Ares. Runnemede, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment, May-October 2017 is a six-issue comic book prequel to the series.
