Info Notes

The text says that the author bought the land on which he planned to build Hygeia and that he returned to England to collect family and friends to settle there. He lived there for a time and is mentioned in Chapter 5 of Frances Trollope’s Domestic Manners of the Americans (1832), but the planned community was not established, and Bullock sold the property and returned to England.
