Annotation | Basis of an entire sub-genre of utopias in which the imaginary voyage leads to worlds peopled by beings differing physically from the human norm but usually endowed with speech and reason. Many such works include a eutopia. Here the eutopia is a land of rational horses, the Houyhnhnms. While there may be earlier examples, beginning in the late twentieth century, a number of novels and stories have been published concerning Mrs. Gulliver. See 1999 Fell and the note there. |
