All men die but one, who has been put into a trance by Maori elders. The women generally make a mess of things. When the man awakes, he is made king, whereupon he organizes the women, who only needed a man to direct them, and the road to recovery begins. But he is required to marry one hundred women and runs away for true love with a woman who won't share him with others. |

When the man awakes, he is made king, whereupon he organizes the women, who only needed a man to direct them, and the road to recovery begins. But he is required to marry one hundred women and runs away for true love with a woman who won’t share him with others. The author was born in England and emigrated to Aotearoa/New Zealand in 1863. He was the first Secretary of the Department of Labour and founder of the Polynesian Society. |
