The effect of two types of EFNEP intervention on nutrition knowledge and behavior of enrolled homemakers

This experimental study focused on determining how the nutrition behavior of enrolled EFNEP homemakers would be affected by the type of educational strategy used. It included a comparison of homemakers taught by the traditional method and those t aught by a nontraditional method. Nontraditional strategy was characterized by more frequent educational contact and the use of a defined curriculum for the first 8 weeks of intervention. The impact of the strategies was measured by comparing scores on Food Recall and overall subscores on the Food Behavior Checklist. The five subscores analyzed were: nutrition knowledge, food purchasing, food storage, food planning, and food preparation.
